my ex a birthday card? We were together for 3 years and broke up a month ago. It was on good terms but brutal nonetheless. We haven't spoken since; should I try and break the silence and send her a card?

It is difficult to make a decision. However, if you decide to keep a friendly relationship in the future, OK but if this will not occur in the following years then its best to let go completely. It will not complicate your life when you will have a new relationship.

Only if you make sure she cannot misunderstand the meaning of the card. Don't put a long personal note in it or anything, just a simple signature. This is a peaceful gesture, without giving false hope. Good luck!

NO!!! A ex is an ex for a reason. That relationship is in the past so just bury that. If later in life he wants to be FRIENDS then that will be fine but for now leave it alone.

Yes, she more than likely feels the same way and doesn't want to feel rejected so u should b the bigger person and send the card

Don't send anything unless you are trying to woo her back.
Next year you could send a card, enough time will have passed then - but you won't want to by then!

It might make it look like you want to get back together so it depends if you want her to think that.

Sometimes a clean break is for the better so you can both get on with your lives.

Why not....everyone wants to have their b-day remembered, but don't expect that this card will change anything or that you will become close again because of it.

Why not? What is the worst that could happen? She might not speak to you (nothing new??)
I would just make sure its a jokey one, and not a lovey dovey one
