I look at the issues, the backgrounds, and as much of the available information as possible
I generally vote about 70% Republican, as this is where my beliefs line up. Though this election I will be voting against the Republican incumbent for Senate, but for a new Republican candidate for my district's house seat. I will be voting for 2 Republicans and 1 Independent for school board.

For local politics, that is to say politics up to about the level of state representatives and state senators, I examine the issues. Government at the local level is much more free to act based on its own ideas and thoughts, so those thoughts become important.
For national level politics, the House, Senate, and President, I vote straight party line. Politics at the national level is built on the parties. While specific ideas of specific people may be less than ideal to me, it's important to understand that the pressure of party politics is going to consistently outweigh personal opinions of each person. Therefor, I determine which party platform is most appealing and vote for that party.

While I claim to be Democrat,
I think anyone who just votes along party lines is foolish
you have to look at the issues and vote for the best person for the job
I think we need to add nationally what NEVADA did
the option of NONE OF THE ABOVE

I vote based on the issues and the people running for those positions. Lately there has been so much mud slinging that the issues seem to be getting lost.

Give me a good president without lies, scandal, or deaths linked to his people and I will be happy to vote. If I side with anyone it would be the green party, but I don't vote due to lack of honesty on the ballot. I just pray that god (whichever god that might be)will send us a real leader before N Korea send some nukes to California and I am a gonner

I'm non-affiliated with ANY major political party, therefore I can't vote along my party lines.
I vote for the person, and their beliefs, and I couldn't care less whether they're a Democrat or a Republican.

I have crossed party lines and I look deeply at the issues, the moral character of the candidate. As well as how much the candidates beliefs parallel mine.

I look at the issues and wish more people did. If that were the case, we'd have a president who knew the issues and prepared himself for life in the Oval Office instead of the guy who would be fun to have a brewski with.
