I think buisness directories are a lot more affective, thompson blue or the yellow pages in the uk for example. This was you can directly target your clients although it depends on what buisness your running. If your not stuck on the name of your buisness you willl do well to change it alphabetically for example aadvark computers will be seen before advanced computers. Ask them about this, it makes sence that they are more likely to see your advert before others this way. Fliers door to door locally are also another great way to advertise. If you own a vehicle or a freind does maybee you could advertsise on that too.

Recent research suggests that most business comes by word of mouth. When you advertise in the paper I suggest you go for a small ad with big words just to get your name out there. Don't spend too much and be sure to ask all of your customers where they heard of you so you can get an idea of what advertisement is working.

It might be good to show up at local events with your name. Just a suggestion.

From experience if you could advertise as much as you can in different news papers, It will be costly to start off with but that is the best way to get known. But don't put to much in the free news papers because people throw them out and don't bother to read them.Do that for a short while then cut it down and put small advert in your best paper. Plus a small one or what ever you can afford in the Yellow Pages. Leave those in permanently and charge a little bit extra to cover the cost.

It's expensive to advertise on newspapers in Singapore. You can create a blog at blogger.com and post for free. I work from home in shorts and T-shirts and sometimes topless. I have all the freedom I need. The only thing that tied me down is 'how much income I want or need' I create new page for my websites everyday. The more websites I have will determine how much income I can get. Anyone who can type and can create websites or blogs can make money. Blogger.com lets you create blogs for free and allows you to make money too. If you can create websites or blogs and can type, you can make onlinemoney online easily. You may make money by publishing Google Adsense on your websites. If you have a website or a web-blog, you could make money by publishing advertisements on your site (by google). If someone clicks on those ads, you will earn money. If you don't have a website, you may start creating web-blogs like blogger.com (mostly free) with advertisements (google ads) on it. Some free websites don't allow you to publish google adsense because they are doing it themself. I had received too many yahoo violation notices, so, I'll better not post my own url here. i come by this new blog which I think is good. Take a look if you are free eg: http://lost-newbie.blogspot.com/... I found her on blogger.com. I recommend this blog because I think she needs money badly

If you've just started it, contact the news papers and tell them you're having a "grand opening" on ____ date. They will send reporters and cover the event for free. Free is good!
