I had a whole face transplant 3 years ago. It's still not healed and regularly falls off in the shower. Very inconvenient after playing squash in the sports centre showers.

Depends on the size of cut, how old you are, if you do what your told by the doc, etc and to what stage you call healed.
I had a kidney and a huge tumour removed because of cancer and caught MRSA, it took a 6 months to close up, another six to stop itching due to it stretching and so on.
I'm 2 and a half years down the road and you could debate that it's only just healed because i can now walk straight upright where before i stooped a little because my stomach felt so tight.
There is still a very small area that is numb, i think this is where nerves where severed and haven't connected back together.
My scar is 14inches now, it has shrunk a little and guess what? They are due to open me up again because of a lump that has appeared.
I hope you have an easier ride then me.
You have to laugh about the subject or you'd go mental.

I used to work on a plastic surgery ward and one of the consultants told me a scar will take 18 months until it is at its full healed stage. If the scar is on an area where it moves such as your knee be careful because you can stretch the scar and it will make it thicker. I was told this after having a small mole took of my thigh. I didnt take any notice and carried on going to gym etc and now have a thick scar. You can also buy a product from boots (i think its called cica care) which will reduce the redness of the scar and keep it flat. i think its silicone based and you have to wear it for long periods for it to be successful but is very comfortable. you should use it as soon as the scar is free of scabs and healed so should be fine in a few weeks. Internal stitches usually look like cotton. If this is what yours looks like it is probably dissolvable and can take a while. If it looks like fishing line then i would see your GP. I will try and find out the name of other scar reducing products because I know there is another one that has just come out.As soon as I know ill let you know.

remember all scars heal from two directions, outside and inside OK, I have had many surgery's, and for the out side when its OK every day rub in Vitamin E with light pressure and circles OK,and you can take a vitamin E supplement for the promotion of the healing on the inside, now remember if it can be seen by sunlight you need to keep it from the sun till completely healed or you will always have a liter color at the scar OK, takes months but when completely healed everyone different it will turn into the same color as you natural skin, don't worry scars always loOK bad for the first early months but it will fade, trust me OK keep The E on it , it comes in called units ok I used 58,000 units its printed on the bottle but they say the 28, or 32 ,000 is just as good and cheaper, and only cost from $3.00 to $12.00 for a small bottle and 1 should do the trick OK,and you'll be just fine

mine took about 3-4 months but is still visible and they told me that it would. My scar also sticks out. That was about 7 years ago when that happened.

As you are obviously concerned, see your GP. If he thinks it necessary, he will refer you back to the surgeon.
Or alternately, try and ring the dept which did the op. Someone there will be able to help perhaps.

Not sure but try rubbing vitamine E cream on it. It's supposed to help reduce them.
