You dont really have to do that if you do not believe in them or are doubtful about their relevance . You can have your own principles which have to be in accordance with the social system and your own beliefs . In fact, even Gandhiji's principles are like that . Yes, of course some of them have lost their meaning . I mean if ever somebody slaps on my face then I am not as great as mahatma to be willing to the next shot . I'll rather shoot that person.............lolz
So, do whatever suits as long as you don't hurt others . Rest, chuck dena without second thoughts .

The world continues to be filled with oppression and suffering. Part of remembering our history is so that we dont continue to make the same mistakes. Gandhi was a voice of perseverance and kindness during a time of harsh discrimination. He suffered yet stood firmly in his beliefs and as a result he freed his country from Brittish rule. Gandhi was a leader in the same way Martin Luther King Jr. led a fight for civil rights.

As cultures continue to become meshed together, we need to learn to be more tolerant of one another. We need to recognize voices of reason, like the voice of Gandhi. We need to respect all cultures so that we can live in harmony as a diverse world.
