Depends how you look at it -
1 + 1 = 2
1 + 1 = 11
1 + 1 = 11 which in binary = 3
1 + 1 = a couple
1 + 1 = twins
1 + 1 = one extra

When I went to school it came to 2, but after 40 years and far too many changes in the whole schooling systems, I might be wrong and 1 + 1 may add up to three!
