content and surrounded with (my) loved ones, yet open to the possibility of having a roller-coaster ride once in awhile. as i grow older, i'm less inclined to enjoy the drama and stress thjat go with being or being around an intense type "A" personality. (not that that ever WAS me!)

to me, the knowledge that some things (love, peace, happiness) are as sure as the sunrise more than make up for the overhyped excitement and intoxication of chaos. besides, there's nothing saying we content predictable types can't live a little and have raisins in our toast every few days. :)

Been there and accomplished that My previous due husband died on June nineteenth, 2008....I felt so abandoned, and the discomfort replace into insufferable and that i've got been left/dumped until now....it replace into painful, yet no longer as undesirable as your loved, loss of life.

I like to think I would choose the content safe predictable life, but all the evidence says otherwise. I believe we make our own reality to fit our needs and I seem to need great challenges. I do try to have the best of both worlds though. I have a loving family, but my professional life is filled with grief, passion and pressure. Once I walked away from a very good paying job with terrific security to get involved in a project I deeply believed in, but with a DRASTIC cut in pay. Fortunately I have a wife who supports such fits of fancy. Now I seem to have the reputation as a risk taker AND fund raiser. I love the work, but it is EXTREMELY nerve racking. But, I know who made the choices that led me here! So I have answered your question in my life. I was given the exact choices you talk about and I chose number one. I have never looked back with regret. Sometimes I look at the guys who work for a big corporation for 30 or 40 years and retire, and I sigh, but then I remind myself that it wouldn't work for me. I just wasn't made for it. So I smile and I am truly thankful that I have found myself. Even if the road is rough, I know it is MY road.
