If you still have it, the Masterball will be the best and easiest way to catch Latios. If you don't have it, you'll need to chase it down. Here's how to catch it:

First, make sure you're Pokemon are strong enough. If you're going after Latios, then you've defeated the Elite Four and you should be good to go. Latios will be level 40 when you encounter it. You'll encounter it randomly and only outside (not in dungeons, caves etc) but when you do, it will show up on your Pokedex so you can see where it is and chase it.

Here's the rub. Latios has a high tendency to flee when you encounter it. To prevent fleeing, you'll need a Pokemon that can stop it. You can do this a few ways, including using a Wobuffett with the special ability Shadow Tag, which will prevent Pokemon from fleeing. Some Trapinch have the special ability Arena Trap, which has the same effect. If you don't have one of these Pokemon that is strong enough, then you'll have to use a move to stop Latios from fleeing. For example, the moves Mean Look and Block will stop a Pokemon from fleeing--but only if your Pokemon is fast enough to use the move before Latios flees. Also, the effect of these moves is lost when you switch Pokemon--something else to keep in mind!

I made the mistake of trying to catch Latios the hard way--no Masterball. I wound up catching a wild Golbat from Victory Road, raising it a few levels (about 50 or so), made sure that it had the move Mean Look and used that to chase down and catch Latios. I also had to use a few healing items on Golbat because Latios is a Dragon/Psychic type and knew a few Psychic-type moves, against which Golbat is weak. It took a few Ultraballs, but once Latios was sufficiently weakened it was a fairly easy catch.

It depends on your luck.In Emerald version, after you beat the Elite 4, you will automatically went home. Then, you will automatically brought to the TV. The TV says something (about the flying thing). Then your mother(NOT your real mother)will ask you about the flying thing. It will give you a choice. That are....
1.Red *Latias
2.Blue*Latios

*The pokemon's name were not listed in the game
After that, try your luck now.The pokemon you choose was AROUND the World Map.

The Easier way....
1.Use gameshark code( I don't really know it works or not)
2.Nintendo Events(Thats for Ruby & Sapphire, I think)

So, take a deep breath,Pray a lot, Don't give up.AND hope you will get your Latios in Lv 50 holding a Soul Dew( I THINK)

.................Good Luck :)

A really good question. i couldn't capture it myself (& i have emerald). but to do so, you either use a master ball when you first meet it or get Wobuffet to face it (the shadow tag ability will keep it from fleeing) and use timer and ultra balls. Trapinch's arena trap will not work (Latios has levitate, so arena trap can be avoided by Latios). If you don't have a master ball, then bring lots of Hyper/Max potions (Latios has Luster Purge [very powerful], Psychic, Recover, and Refresh, i think). Just keep throwing the balls at Latios and let it wail at you (using potions when needed). Eventually, Latios will start using Struggle and hurt itself, a safer alternative to fighting it. Latios will be at Level 40, so be prepared.

In order to catch either of Latios or Latias you first must beat the Elite Four then go back to your house and watch the T.V. The T.V. will say what color was the Pokemon. Red = Latias and Blue = Latios. You may notice everytime you go to look for either of these Pokemon they will run away from you. (When using the Pokedex to see where it is, then showing up and it's somewhere else) In order to catch one you must have a Wobbuffet (Lv.32 - 40) first in your Pokemon party (make sure it knows Mirror Coat). Have about 60 Hyper Potions or Max Potions in your bag. Have a Pokemon that knows fly in your party. Also be sure to have about 40 Ultra balls and 40 Timer balls, or even more. Then go to Lilycove city and stand in front of the Pokemon center. Check your Pokedex to find out what area Latios / Latias is in. You want either one of them to be on Route 120. In order to do this have one of your Pokemon use fly. Fly right back to Lilycove city. Check your Pokedex to see if Latios / Latias flew to Route 120. If the haven't, keeping flying back to Lilycove until they're on Route120. If they are on the Route walk (DO NOT RUN OR BIKE, THIS MAY SCARE IT AWAY!!) through Route 121 checking the grassy patches because Latios / Latias constantly moves. This will allow you to cross paths with the Pokemon. By doing this you should definitely come across it. Once you've found Latios / Latias make Wobbuffet go out first, and be prepared for a long battle. The attack Wobbuffet should use first is Mirror Coat. Latios / Latias will get to attack first. The first attack that Latios will try to use will either be Luster Purge or Psychic. This will do little damage to Wobbuffet but it will lower Wobbuffets Special Defence. Now Mirror Coat will kick in and attack Latios / Latias with double the force of Psychic or Luster Purge. This should take Latios / Latias HP down to very little yellow or even red. Now stop attacking the Pokemon. Next turn use a hyper potion or max potion to bring Wobbuffets HP back to full. Latios / Latias next attack should be Psychic, Luster Purge, Protect, or Refresh. If its either Psychic or Luster Purge use another Hyper Potion/Max Potion on Wobbuffet. You may notice that either of these attacks are doing more damage each time. This is because they are lowering Wobbuffets special defence with each attack. If the attack is either Protect or Refresh they will fail because Wobbuffet is no longer attacking. If Latios / Latias attack fails throw Ultra balls repeatedly. If the Pokemons attack keeps failing keep throwing Ultra balls. After many turns start throwing Timer balls. The Timer ball has been gaining much power during this battle because of the many passing turns. The Timer ball should catch the Pokemon leading to your battles succesion. You now have one of the most powerful Pokemon in the game.

Master ball. If you don't have one, make sure you have 30 pokeballs(regular only!). Then, when the pokeball is flying out of your hand, hold down A and B. When it is opening up around the pokemon to catch it, hold down B and SELECT(this little trick helped me catch a lv.55 kadabra on Leafgreen version). This may or may not work. If you are saving your masterball for a legendary(raquaza, kyogre, groudon)....DON'T! They can all be caught with ultra balls.
