Vehicle cranks strong, fuel is coming out forward of fuel filter so pump is OK. If I put fuel in the throttle body the vehicle starts immediatly and runs til gas runs out (few seconds). Vehicle has occasionally been running rough, but usually settles down within a few minutes, mostly ran great. What is the next logical step.

fuel coming out of the filter does not always mean yyour pump is working normally, you need 60 psi to the TBI injector modual. Also the injector itself may be bad.

There is a fuse on GM models for the fuel injection on throttle body vehicles (TBI). Check your fuses and replace the blown fuse! Your problem will be solved! I'm assuming that is a replacement engine because 97's are fuel injected TPI! That's a whole nother ball game!

It seems that your injectors are not firing. Use a 12 volt test light to check for voltage in the injector wires. If the light blinks while turning the engine over, they are OK. If not , it's either a ground problem or the PCM is on the blink.
Also be sure to check the injector fuse.
Hope this helps.

Get a fuel pressure gauge on there and make sure there is ENOUGH pressure. Those vortechs need like 50 plus lbs of pressure to blow those poppet valves open.

your next would be fuel regulator valve. this is what opens to let fuel go to your throttle body.
