Becoming a legend does not only involve time but what impact a person or thing had on others. If you are familiar with golf, Tiger Woods was pretty much a legend before he turned professional and that was when he was 20. So I guess it depends on the circumstances.

Generally 100 years is a good yardstick, though it seems modern media and Hollywood seem to think that something need only be available from next week and yet is already legendary.

Legends are not impacted by age, but by effect, popularity or fame. We all (Americans) know who Buffalo Bill Cody is, for example. But does anyone remember his older brother?
