I was watching the news this morning (don't remember the station, because 2 locals and 2 nationals play at the exact same time) and saw the incident last night at a fashion show. A trained model actually tripped TWICE in her pointed toe stiletto heels while she was only on stage! How many times did she fall in the back? You literally see her wobbling to keep balance from her time out till the time she came back.
Now that it's got this far, I need to speak out about these silent killers (not literally, but I nearly broke a bone once) Stilettos are sexy, but only if you practiced hard at all times you wear shoes, which you need be a fetishest or enthusiast of heels to do. If you don't train the proper way, you can't do it! I owned a pair of pointed toes and never will again. I wore them once and almost broke my neck! Walking in heels is hard, pointed toes make it almost impossible. These points reduce the balance in the balls of your feet, which you need for heels.
Please reply!

Anyways, as a further opinion, shoes should have rounded toes, especially heels. As both a fetishest and enthusiast, I find these the MOST comfortable, yet hardest to find, lest you are looking for vintage shoes or sandals.
Furthermore, if you most have a platform on your heels, make sure it goes from where the ball of your foot goes straight down. That way, it gives the stability that a tapered platform doesn't.

Eek, kitten heels! These things are horrid for newcomers to heels. Some people say they are good starters but in fact, they are just shorter stilettos. And new heel wearers are used to distributing weight in way that accomadates flats, which is not good. I am experienced in heels and hate to wear kittens because of the way way you have to position your weight.

As for height improvement. I am 5'2" and in my area, girls stand at 5'4" to 5'8" as a typical height. Heels add length, not toes! I don't look taller, but look longer thinner and sexier in round toed heels. Regardless of height, that proper proportioning really makes you look scaled properly to other taller people.

I've never heard of pointy heels having a good affect hun. Some people say they make legs look longer, I don't know I don't care. A proper pant or cute shoe does the same, but since the dawn of man, a smaller more demure naturally shaped foot has been found the most attractive. Points disfigure that and are only sexy to those who have a fetish for strange body modifications. Plus, as Susan said, wear them now, disfigured feet later. This also happened to my mother (her feet are just raunchy) and my grandmother had sense to avoid them. Wear a cute flats, clothes that give a proper effect (nothing tight) and keep your hair in styles that lay low on top. This will make you seem somewhat shorter.
And HoseLover. I like these things because of their effect on the psyche. Instinctually, a woman has to be either dom or sub strictly at each time. Corsets, hose and heels can give both effects, depending on the wearer's thoughts. I think THAT is sexy!

You know, I always hated the look of pointy shoes. That is until recently. I'd always gone with round shoes. In recent months though, as I've been evolving my look and updating my wardrobe (since I've lost a ton of weight and needed new clothes anyway), I've developed an appreciation for the pointed toe. No, you can't walk the same way in them that you do with a round toe. And they can hurt your feet if they're the wrong shoe for your foot. But that doesn't mean that if you choose to wear the pointed toe shoes, you're going to have bunions and ingrown toenails. Yes, it's a possibility. But I personally don't wear them enough for that to happen. Usually when I get home, I change out of my heels anyway, and trade them for sneakers or other flat shoes that fit my foot well. And especially if they have good arch supports, I don't have to worry as much about bunions in the future. I think the key to wearing heels, regardless of the toe shape, is to not wear them all the time. Sure, you wear them to work or for a night on the town. When you get home, change into more sensible shoes. Use orthotics if need be. Your feet don't have to suffer all the time for the sake of fashion. Moderation in all things, my dears!

it depends on the point. Some pointed toe shoes have a ridiculously long tip and so there is like a 3/4 inch space from toes to the end of the shoe!! THOSE are dangerous. BUT if you get the right ones the are ok. Round toed heels do not look good under your jeans...at least not like the pointed ones do. Round toe kinda makes my feet look stubby. And believe me, they are not! I am an 8.5. Also, with formal wear unless you get very dainty round toed shoes they can ruin your dress. I am from the East Coast and pointed shoes are in style here. You can always wear Ballete flats.

I don't like the pointy-toed shoes or stilettos either- they remind me of something the Wicked Witch of the Strip Club would wear. (So, yeah, I've never tried them on...)

My choice in heels is dancer's character shoes- a subtle rounded toe, a heel that's not too tall, and a shoe that is overall designed to make your legs and feet elegant and your movement graceful...

Pointed toe stilletos are simply wicked. Talk has it that some women would even go for surgery to remove their pinkies (toes).

Heels? Don't get me started on them. I simply fail to understand how my fellow females can stand and walk and shop in them. Standing in them for my presentations are already a torture.

But then again, you can't deny that wearing killer heels gives you this edgy-sexiness and a sense of female empowerment. Think dominatrix. ((:

I used to wear them when I was in my early twenties. Yes, they were in fashion in the sixties. Now that I am old, I think I would break my neck in them. They are also probably why I have terrible bunions and ingrown toenails. I can't believe that I used to teach school in them all day and did not get crippled! Now that I am a nurse, I wear sensible shoes. Good question!

I HATE THEM TOO! Some of them are ridiculously pointed and put 14 inches on the size of your feet! I would never wear those kinds of shoes, in style or not.

Pointy shoes are generally awful. I've never understood why people would want to make their feet look 3 sizes bigger. Also, you often see people toes sticking out when they wear them, which I find gross.

pointy toes are GOOD, its the 10" heels you need to look out for, they are what will break your back!

so you're short, at least you're not hideously tall, like me, I'm 14, female, and the youngest member of my family and stand taller than most of my family members, I'm gradually catching my dad up, its wrong!
