Keeps sun rays from damaging your upholstery, paint and tires.

Where I live there is no snow, so it's for sun protection.

JOKE: It is the place where your your car when you aren't driving it,-- just like airplanes and aipropts!

Carport is a "cheap attempt at protection that a garage gives! Keeps car cooler inside, thereby making it more comfortable for you when you want to drive it! It is better for finish and interior of car to you have it under cover. The paint finish will remain "good looking" longer, Polish/wax will last longer, -interior will remain "newish" looking longer, and the plastic on dash and trim inside car will remain nice longer (due to prevention of oxidatin/rot being slowed down. The "culprit here is sun (& ultraviolet rays).

And of course usually you won't have to shovel as much snow from around car to get in an drive it away, - (however you might have a bunch of snow on one side - if it drifts because of wind!)

i own a repair shop, and today's versions of carports do a lot of things with cars being so expensive, people are getting more aware that the sun and weather will damage their cars and trucks and they are trying to protect them better than they use to,especially in a hail storm the, car port will protect a car form being pounded to death by hail stones, and this is why there being used to protect the investment we have made in a car or a truck,we all know money doesn't grow on trees these days,so anything we can do to help preserve our vehicles will help, and it will be worth more should a person decide to trade it in on a new one later one, good luck i hope this help,s.
