We're all slaves to the government, and many of us are happy, so I guess I'd have to say, "Yes."

yes we can be happy. we are all slaves of one sort or another. each is a state of mind along with physical presence. i can be a slave in body but no one can control my heart, mind, my soul would remain mine unless it is willingly given -then it wouldnt be slavery but willing captivity. we each our own prisons make.

Yes, remember the happiness and joy does not come from material wealth.
Instead, it comes from self-satisfaction, and most importantly, love, true love. I realised that recently. Love is what keeps us all alive. Can you live without loving someone?
In fact, my next question to you is:
"If we are a billionaire, would we be 100% happy?"
