I agree that it does get annoying hearing about people's horrible life when everyone thinks that something in their life has been bad. However, there are times when an older person will tell me their story and I have come to realize this is their way of trying to teach others about the mistakes made in their lives. Even though it is awkward learning more than you want to know about people, we should all take life's lessons and make the most out of them. Also if it bothers you, let them know that you understand and can sympathize with them, but also let them know you had a hard life too. Hope this helps!

Some people just want you to know them for their problems and not their personality! I love it when people use something tiny, like they have excema on their bottom, as an excuse not to work, go out much. But as soon as an audience arrives, they will go into great detail about their lives. I had an old man tell me once that the world was going to end on a bus! It was so bad, I got off half an hour from my actual stop and walked the rest rather than listen to his psycho babble! Nutters are as frequent as us normal people these days!

I think some people are never happy with their lives or what goes on in their lives, they feel miserable because of this. And maybe for this reason, they want others to feel as bad as they do, so they don't feel alone. But the thing is the more they do this, the more lonely they will be. I think the worse thing is that you have to listen to their stories MORE than ONCE!!! And I really hate it when people repeat the same thing over and over.

You must be in a bad mood I guess. Yes it's hard and annoying to listen to others problems and after some time it might be depressing for you. But don't you see that you are a lucky one. Someone who looks kind enough to listen to peoples problems. Everybody needs that. Cause in modern world not many people get a chance to talk his/her problems with friends. Sometimes you just seek a friendly face to sit and talk to. I think you are a good person in deep inside but bored a bit. Don't mind the stuff just listen to them show that you care them. They don't want you to adopt their sons do they? just listen to them it makes them feel better, it will make you feel better. It's just what the society needs. good luck

Those people who can just tell their 'life problems' don't really have life problems. If you had real problems you wouldn't be able to tell a stranger. In fact, sometimes people have such bad problems that they find it difficult to talk to their family members. I used to know a girl at work who thought that her life was so hard and she was moaning to me all the time. I am a very polite and compassionate person, so I was always listening to it, but at the end I got so fed up with it that I just simply blanked her out and didn't talk to her. And when I saw her in the corridor I just gave her some belittling looks thinking how pathetic she was.

I can't say I hate anyone and I don't think I've ever met anyone who has introduced themselves by telling me about their awful life.
Don't think I would hate them for it - probably just walk away and completely forget about them.

I have a neighbour like this - no matter what the occasion or how happy you are, he's got a hard luck story to bring you down. He's NOT lonely coz he lives with his wife and family although they dont talk to him because he's always on such a downer. I've even stopped doing my gardening because he comes out and moans to me the whole time. I call him Billy B##lox because he talks aload of old b##lox. I used to feel sorry for him but having heard his hard luck stories 10 times over Im sick to death of him.

No, not at all. If someone is telling their story, they need it to be heard. I am always empathetic when it comes to my fellow human being. We all need each other, a good listening ear and comfort. Without empathy and caring, life is cold and it need not be that way. Try using some compassion - you may decide you like it.

Do you hate them or you just dislike the way they carry on?
Remember we all are individuals and life changes and shapes people in to certain mold you are thus far in the intolerant mold till life deals you a blow then you may change your mold.
Take care!

I agree, moaning at someone about your life on the first meeting will not be a good first impression, I would feel like I wouldn't want to meet that person again!
Unless it's something that comes up in conversation then your personal life should be kept personal, unless you know someone well.
