It really bugs me why do people say you should respect older people & shouldnt be rude to them even when they are to you !!!
I saw a programme where a lady was annoyed that a man younger than her son have served her & not given her the answer she wanted who the hell does she think she is ???

I am not ageist, I am almost 50 years old, no one older or younger than me is any less capable of anything than me, we all have to learn things and we all have the right to be treat with respect no matter what our age is, I feel sorry for a lot of the young kids today, they are put down, abused and insulted by older people, disgraceful and not on, some of those sort either like to forget or do forget they were the same age themselves once, I have never forgotten my youth and will always respect that others have a right to theirs too, age doesn't always come with experience, sometimes it comes with been old before your time.

Ageist, sexist, sectarian and loads of other words boil down to one simpler concept - ignorant fear.
The old lady fears the young man and strikes at him in any way she can and when the opportunity presents itself. Watch these people - they always strike when the target cannot strike back.

It is wrong. Some old people think we should do cartwheels for them: not so. What have they done to deserve it? Lived a long time? Whoopee, do they want a medal? They need to give respect in order to earn it. I believe in giving everyone due respect until they do something to lose it, then they must earn it back. If they are always respectful, then there's no problem.

I think age is irrelevant. Just because you are old does not mean you are a decent or knowledgeable (because you've been around longer) person. If an old person is nasty then they deserve no respect.

It's just traditional. Remember that you can do whatever you want but I believe that all people deserve respect. If you are respectful to all you don't have to worry about giving unfair treatment to your elders.

look child you should respect older people because one day you will be and would you like to be mugged by horrible spoilt junkies! the old generation had to go through world wars,real depression.they didn't have mod cons they did everything by hand!! grow up and stop breast-feedind with mummy!!!!!!!!

We show our Respect for older people because if it wasn't for them procreating, you wouldn't be here to ask this question now would you?

well,she was just crabby....not many older people are like that,but in any walk of life your gonna get nasty people,theres a hell of a lot of young people who are nasty too!
