I'm a little concerned with some of the answers you have received, but I will still give you my 2 cents.

Avon is a company that has been around for a very long time. Many people know and love it's products. Like every other name brand, there will always be people who either sell a competetitor's product or someone who's had a bad experience that will bad mouth the name itself.

Avon can be a good opportunity. You get out of it what you put into it. You pay $10 to get started & that gets you books & selling materials for your first 2 campaigns (your first two 2 week cycles). After that, the only money you put out is on bags if you want to package your orders in Avon bags (they are cheap - like less than 5 cents per bag), books - they are roughly 50 cents apiece depending on how many you buy, and any samples you want to give your customers.

As long as you receive payment from your customers for their orders when you deliver their products, I don't see how you can't turn a profit.

Many people who say they never made any money with Avon don't bother to tell you how much they ordered for themselves. It is a business. If you purchase more for yourself than you make in profits from your actual customers, of course you won't make any money. The best way to keep from doing this is to make yourself an invoice anytime you order anything personal - you should do this anyway for tax reasons.

Like I said, Avon is like any other business in that you get out of it what you put into it. If you don't actively seek customers or treat them well, you will not be successful. Some people sign up with Avon expecting to make money without having to do anything...that's just ignorant.

Feel free to email me personally if you want any more info. I can't sign you up myself unless you're in my area, but I'm more than willing to help you make an informed decision =)

I have done Avon, I have done May Kay and I am now doing Arbonne, I will not discredit either Avon or May Kay, but from my own findings Avon had been around a long time and had lots of wonderful products but there a ton of consultants so unless you know a lot of people that will buy from you it could be very hard to get started, May Kay on the other hand is very expensive to get involved in and I never did make all of the money that I invested in to it back, and the products are not very reasonable for the average wage women, I do enjoy Arbonne and so far I have been doing great, and I didn't have to spend a ton of money to get started, I don't have to carry inventory and I can order 24/7. I hope you find what you are looking for and If I can be of anymore help please let me know! Best of Luck

I'm an avon rep,
It is worth it of you have the time,
The good sides are you make a little money, meet people & get some freebies.
I think the only bad thing is you may deliver a catalogue to someone who does not want it & they give you loads of abuse.
It's ok, wouldnt say it's one the best ways to make money.
Also the fees are split, so for the first 3 campaing you pay out more than you make.

It's worth it if you have a large network of people that are going to purchase you. Your profits are based on a sliding scale so how much you make depends on how much you sell. The products are good - whenever I sold I never had any complaints about any products it just got to the point where the effort I was putting into it was much greater than what I was getting out of it. I'm now with a new direct sales company where I make a consistent 45% profit on everything sold, where there's continual training (that's another thing avon doesn't really offer) and where I have sold thousands of dollars worth of merchandise in just 6 months - if you'd like more information on my new company feel free to contact me

Ive been there, done it, got the products. Personally, I would say no. You have to buy all your brochures and unless you know people are going to buy it, and by people, I mean a fair few, it's really going to be more work than what it's worth.
Why be an Ann Summers rep?! That's so gotta be more fun and you get to put those buzzy things on the tip of your nose and sneeze lots! Not only that, you'll know that the quiet neighbour who has everything so perfect is really a mucky so n so in the bedroom!

It is if you have a large networking group or a lot of friends that you know will buy from you.

I would recommend becoming a Mary Kay Rep instead. Every woman likes make up, and not only that the benefits that go with being a Mary Kay Rep are excellent, and just can't be passed up!

The benefits of Mary Kay outweigh Avon by a large margin.

A lot of people have a problem with Avon products. I know many who are allergic.

I used to be an Oriflame rep, they're all natural cosmetics and very popular. I still have a lot of stuff myself. I'd look into that instead if I were you.

It can be very worthwhile, but only if you know loads of people,Avon is on the up and up,when they do product compares in magazines Avon always gets better marks than lots of really expensive products.
The commision is good too...25% of what you sell !
