We live in Italy and most of the newer Italian homes, like the one we rent, are almost all equipped with safes. Some are small and built into the walls, but ours is an actual room with a separate alarm system from the house! It's like a bank volt! I use it as a closet and dressing room! Aside from the jewelery that I wear and never take off that is pretty valuable, anything else that is worth a lot is kept back home in the states with family until we move back there in a few years.

We keep a fire proof lock box which also defeats the purpose of "safe". Plus we keep the key in the drawer right below it. We are none to bright, eh? We keep car titles, bonds, our wills, birth certificates, checks we haven't used yet and stuff like that. I am not telling you where I live since I gave all that important info! :o)

Yes...I keep things of minimal - no value in it. That way if a burglar sees it they will take it thinking there is something worth while in it. Good joke to play on burglars when they get a safe full of trash.

A portable safe (which kind of defeats the concept of a safe)
