you mean a compulsive liar? not really sure what an obsessive liar is but it sounds funny...
yes you should believe them... has he/she ever had differing stories about where they're from, their age, birthday, what they had for breakfast, what they're doing when they're not taking your calls?

Yes!!! please believe them people always want to say things good about themselves.I was told by a person I was with for eight years. I lair alittle bit, but he lied all the time.I finally realized the truth for myself,and cut all communication off to him.

You would have to go back into the relationship with this person and yourself and see if they have lied to you many times in the past.
