Signs and Symbols of Confirmation
1. The laying on of hands
2. The sign of the cross
3. The annointing with oil
4. A mission - to live a Christian life
Now i am confused then i found this
The gathering will use the traditional Christian symbols to focus the celebration. These symbols are:

- the cross, under which all Christians gather to live and pray
- water, by which the new member is brought into the life of the community
- light, which provides direction to one’s life in the community
- Word of God, which forms every Christian gathering for prayer, and
- chrism, the holy oil which speaks of the fragrant presence of the Spirit of God

This question is a little hard. I think it depends on what religion you're inquiring about. Roman Catholic's make their confirmation as well as Protestants, Lutherans etc. It also depends on where you live. Good Luck!

Symbols associated with confirmation are the descending dove and red flames with a cross- all suggesting the presence of the Holy Spirit. The dove relates to when Jesus was baptized and the dove appeared along with the voice of God. The flames are those recorded when the Holy Spirit descended to the Apostles and they spoke in tongues. Sometimes you will also see a crown of thorns and a spear- since with Confirmation you are supposed to become a warrier or soldier for God in defense of the faith. Those are the only one's I am familiar with, but there may be others. The first two are usually the most commonly seen/used.

Don't know.

I've attended many confirmation ceremonies, and there was never anyone playing the symbols.

Are you sure there are supposed to be symbols?
