Those foreign countries that criticize the U.S. for acting as the world police are not those that will step up and do it themselves or ally with other like-minded nations to assemble a solution. In many cases, it's understood that the US is the one to undertake a particular task. In Darfur for example, the African Union can't handle it, the UN can't or won't handle it so who can the countries of the world who don't want to step up to the challange ask? Say, maybe the U.S can do it. In the stretch of the 230 years of the U.S. existence, the U.S. has helped billions more people in the way of humanitarian aid, disaster relief, etc. than it has ever hurt but I guess countries choose to assign the U. S. the label of "imperialist" rather than to get involved to solve world problems.

We dont want to really get involved with other countries politics but if we feel that an action that a country might do will affect other countries, yes we are going to get involved, case in point north korea and nuclear testing, not real good idea and its scares a lot of countries, remember North Korea would like to take over South Korea any day, so who is to stop them, The USA is only trying to help not govern any other country at all and the thing is if we didnt do anything and something terrible happened and we still didnt react we would still get the blame

We all agree that there is a lot of problems in third world
countries. We, as Americans, believe in a persons rights to be
free, to express that freedom. Countries that oppress the good
citizens rights to do so, are not a friendly Government to our
believes. If those that are oppressed cry out for help and inter-
vention, then those Countries that are opposed to oppression,
should come together and support those that want a change for
the better! We don't really want to get involved, but how can we
not? If you don't believe that this is the greatest Country in the
world, then tell me where to move to!

Well, since we have a nut-job in N. Korea that is about to test some nukes, and another nut-job in Iran that's trying to get some nukes, I think that the world should be glad that the U.S.A. is around to "police" the situation. It would be nice if some of our "allies" like France and Germany kicked-in a little support now and then.

We are the first UN. we ar the fist group of states ever. We are the first people to join together in unity.
We actually know what it takes to make a peaceful alliance. Nobody else in the world has anywhere near the teamwork that the US has in order to get 50 states to work together as one unified people.
We are the real UN. The UN is a joke without us, just like the league of nations was.

Loved Russ' response! Our best ally now is Pakistan, which is headed by a military junta and dictator! We tend to make friends in odd places, and not ever in the name of democracy, That is just a ruse. We need to quit being so arrogant and keep out of other countries' business. But we are only doing it because the big corporations that now control our economy want us to, in order to either increase their wealth or protect thier investments, like oil fields and the like.

My opinion? when terrorists can hijack our palnes and kill our people, because of a system that fails and ears that don't listen, we need to do alot more than what we're doing, the war in Iraq isn't going anywhere, we need some one to step up and say, *enough* but it will take a strong leader for this position, and of course, it won't be Bush that does it.

I don't think that is what we should do. I guess we are not the world police and should stop trying to be world police.

Since the UN won't do it someone has to. Unfortunate that the rest of the world is not wiling to use the UN as the power it should. They all are afraid of something.
