ITA with the above! I'm no expert - yet - but I'll give it a whirl...

Academics Qualities: A good, natural aptitude for mathematical and scientific subjects will naturally be beneficial. Also, the ability to write strong, detailed reports helps in practise.

Personal Qualities/Traits: Confidence, as in many professions, is vital. A desire for organization and the ability to maintain good personal hygene will reflect in your capability to perform well in forensic science, as will good time-management and patience.

Warning: I picked this next beaut up from my observations on others studying forensics with me - usually, if you are a risk-taker, this job won't suit you. A more conservative being might be better suited to this type of career (I, myself, am a total introvert). If you're a more radical type, then you'll have to learn to contain initial impulses.

Hope it helped!

Firstly, attention to detail, almost to the point of being obsessive about it.

Secondly, a "magpie mind". Snap up and retain every odd snippet of information that comes your way.

If these are not your nature, pick another career.
