Yes, I would give him the MVP just for how hard he plays..let alone for how great he plays. The mvp isnt about moonshot homeruns and 150 rbi...lets look at his avg, obp, sb, runs, and he still gets 100rbi. And not for nothing, but he was second in the league in fielding pct for SS. He is the most complete baseball player at the plate, on the basepaths and in the field. No other MVP canidate has all 3 going for them.

Jeter is definitely the MVP of a team of All-Stars, but I would give the AL MVP award to Frank Thomas. This is a guy that has pretty much no offensive weapons around him and still managed to hit the A's into the postseason.
When you look at Jeter's stats, remember he plays with All-Stars at every position. The protection afforded to him in the Yankees lineup should not be underestimated.
And if you don't want to give the MVP to Thomas because he's a DH, let's be honest, Jeter is nothing more than an average fielding shortstop.
That said, Jeter's the one Yankee I would want on my team, and I'm a Red Sox fan.

Jeter absolutely deserves to win the MVP this year. I disagree with some of the other users who say it ALL comes down to the stats. Jeter's ability to perform in the clutch and his leadership should also be considered. Both his hitting and fielding were outstanding this year and he's a big reason why they walked away with yet another AL East title. This is his year!

He hit .343, had an OBP of .417 with ninety seven Rbi's. Oh by potential of how do we undergo in recommendations that the yanks have been w/out 2 beginning outfielders? Who carried the Yankees previous the Sucks, A-rod? No, Jeter did. there is not a extra reliable participant interior the majors. absolutely everyone care to argue, we could communicate.

Jeter is the best. Every Manager in Baseball says the same thing about him. Jim Leyland thinks he is the MVP

Even if he is not the best player for the position...he will make it.
I remember Ripken when he switched position (at the end of his career), and still got to the all stars (when others were better). Not trashing Iron man. I loved watching him play. Almost as much as Pete Rose when he played.
However, Derek is not just a legend...he is the best for his position.

Derek Jeter is an awesome player....I'm a Yankee's fan...but you have to realize that there are many other great players. He is an awesome short stop, but there are also many other great players at many different positions. It would all have to come down to the stats!!!

No, I could name 3 that would be a better fit. Pujols, Beltran or Wright. Typical Yankee fan, it's all about you. Don't get me wrong I like Jeter, but come on there are many fantastic players in both leagues that are easily just as good if not better.

He should if you think about MVP and what that means. He has been that for all of the season. But not all of the sportswriters think like that. Its a regional thing.
