Do you believe the greater the age difference the better it ALWAYS is?

My husband and I are only 2 months apart ( 5 years married)..my parents are 10 years apart (married 52 years last week) and my best friend and her hsubadn are 30 years apart (they have been together 20 years). I think the older generation just respects marriage more and is willing to make comprimises rather than just walk away.

In the 70's the term co-dependant came out...everyone now thinks that if you love someone fiully and think of them first that you are co-dependant. I don't think it is so bad to think of the other person first once and a while.

Also, the couple with the large gap are now ending up with the younger one having to be the caregiver for the older one and missing out on a lot of what they would rather be doing. But they stay because that isthe sacrifice they are willing to make for their spouse.

I would say closer in age is better for long term.

I'm 33 and my husband is going to be 41 soon. We've been married almost 13 years.

It was bad in the beginning- just because he was still so immature. The middle years were great! Now he acts too old!!! He's only 40 (almost 41) and acts like he's in his 60's!!

I really don't think age matters for the most part though.

The age difference thing totally depends on circumstances and the personalities of the two. My husband is ten years older than me.

My husband and I are 11 years apart. No big deal. Age is only a number.

I DON'T KNOW IF THERE IS A RULE THAT IS TRUE FOR ALL THE PEOPLE. I JUST THINK THAT AGE DIFFERENCE IS NOT AN ISSUE! MY HUSBAND IS 55 YEARS OLD AND HE'S 29 YEARS OLDER THAN ME, I'M 26, AND WE BOH NEVER BEEN HAPPIER!! I LOVE HIM MORE THAN MYLIFE!!! ACCORDING TO THE SECOND PART OF UR QUESTION WE MUST BE THE HAPPIER COUPLE ALIVE AND IT IS SO!!!!BUT I DON'T THINK THAT'S THE REASON.

I am eight years older than my husband. What ultimately matters more than age race and religion are values and the class in which you were raised.
