Whay the heck would we want to know anything about Canada?? The only reason Canada knows anything about us is becasue you live next door to the greatest country on earth!!!
Example: If you moved next door to a supercelebrity, you would probably learn alittle about him/her. But do you think they would get to know you? Of course not!

I think it's because America (U.S.A.) has been involved in, or the catalyst for, most of the greatest events of the past two centuries. It is unfortunate that Americans don't know more about Canada, though. The two countries have been friends and allies for many years, and are really a lot more alike than different. Speaking as an American, I love Canada. I have traveled through your country many times and found it to be a beautiful place with friendly people. Everyone I know that has traveled to Canada has thought the same.

Not all Americans are that way. The well read, well traveled Americans know what their government does and they are embarrassed by the Americans that act like they own the world when they're in another country. Some Americans, when they're in another country, act like the people around them are the foreigners!
It's the age of information and with the internet and a more open media, people are becoming more informed. Remember the days that presidents slept with whomever and nobody ever mentioned it in the media? It's getting harder and harder for the ignorant ones to keep their heads in their tush b/c the world is waking up all around them.
NOT ALL AMERICANS ARE LIKE THAT THOUGH. There are MANY wonderful, caring, informed and charitable people in the United States too. Thank God for them.

Not much happens in Canada to hold American interest. The last big thing that held my attention is when that fanatical Frenchman wanted to make the french language the official language of Canada. That's the biggest thing since the winter olympics that I remember, so it's hard to maintain a strong interest when nothing ever happens. I do maintain however, Canadians are really good people and usually a supportive ally. Thank you for your friendship!

Do Canadians realize how self absorbed they are?
Americans know far more about Candians than they could EVER hope to know about us. Is it ego or the failure of their educational system?
Better yet:
Does AJD realize how self absorbed they are?
Americans know far more about AJD than they could EVER hope to know about us. Is it ego or the failure of their educational system?

Don't you think you that is such a broad question? There are self absorbed people every where not just America.
If all Canadians are like you-why would I want to know anything about you? you sound pretty self absorbed yourself buddy.

I disagree with the premise of your question. I don't know any Americans who are "self-absorbed."
I know as much as I want to know about Canadians. I visited Canada several times. The only specific thing I remember is getting ripped off on currency exchanges in Quebec. Should I conclude that all Canadians are petty thieves? I don't think so.

Are you SURE the average Canadian knows about Americans? I'm not.
I believe that most citizens in every country in the world are truly "self-absorbed." They think they know...but they really don't.

Why do we have such a complex in this country (Canada)? Why should we care how much Americans know about Canada. Believe me there are just as many dumb Canadians. Get over it!
