This is great for children. It does so many things for them. It will help them focus their anger, their body will be more conditioned, and they will be more intelligent. Honestly, it helps them learn things that others will not adn their minds will expand in another way. Where the problem lies is when the child wants to stop martial arts and they are forced to continue. As long as he is into this, I fully support it. And, as a former minor league baseball player myself, I think baseball instead of soccer is a good thing.

The sport is good to learn how to defend yourself, I do not recomend it as a true sport, I did that mistake with my son.
I was an athelte myself in track and field as a shotput and hammer trhower.
I help my son go into karate and kick boxing, he love it.
He went to tournaments, won medals, etc,
Now he lands in an Hospital for the last month, a bad kick damage his kidney and is in pain, his wife is always with him, I really regret sponsoring him in this "sport"

It all depends on the Sinsei and his Dojo. If one is taught the proper reasons for learning and the proper way it is good. If he is taught only to fight it is not good. Karate from a purely physical stand point is no better than boxing or wrestling. When taught the way of the Masters one learns the true way.
