The US is a Republic, not a Democracy. There is a difference. Our country was never formed to be a democracy but a republic democracy. Check out the site below.

There is no such thing as a TRUE democracy, where everyone can do as they please. What the U.S. has is about as close as you're going to find.

under the patriot act we became an authoritarianship -- 20th century examples of other authoritarianships would be nazi german and fascist italy.
