This song by Gwen Stefani was absolutely big, but can anyone tell me what a "hollaback girl" actually is?

It actually means when you hear a girl or guy bitching about you and starting rumours about you, you are not the type of person to stoop to their level and do the same back or to 'get even'. You are going to do it your way but without being bitchy and spiteful.
In the song it says, "I heard that you were talking s h i t and you didnt think that i could hear it" then it goes to the chorus "I aint no hollaback girl".
Basically thats what it means. Your not one to shout the odds and get revenge by stooping to their level.

Hollaback girl - You are NOT they type of girl that any guy can just call for a f*ck. You're not going to 'hollaback' when he calls.

A girl that is willing to be treated like a doormat or booty call. She is a girl that will allow guys to do whatever they want with her and will just wait for them to 'holla back' at them.

I think it means that her ex or someone (!) is saying stuff about her behind her back. But she won't lower herself to their level by calling them names. Not sure where bananas come into it though!
