All i can declare is greater appropriate yours than mine. Mine survived an fool for whom i became into doing application engineering spraying sheet-metallic shavings from a router on me and my Inspiron. Smoke isn't the only indication of harm. surely, a working laptop or computing gadget does not have an inner skill grant to create the warmth mandatory for smoke or steam, and basically the CPU gets further warm sufficient, yet lacking that doesn't propose you probably did no longer reason a short which could harm an IC or different element. I won't enable you recognize to resign on it thoroughly, in view it is achieveable you brought about a non everlasting problem which will opposite itself because of the fact the water evaporates. after all, a sip isn't particularly comparable to dowsing it. i do no longer recognize how the keyboard is configured internally. If it has paper like some greater low-value exterior keyboards i've got seen, you may could dry out or replace that.

I think it is better to try repairing before buying new one. So take screw driver remove the screw and clean with soft dry cloth all over and be care full that lens do not get misaligned.
Even warranty will not work because your cat have spilled water on it. Still try to use your warranty card after your mouse dry off.
Best of luck.

Is it a wireless one??? then it has a battery... Remove the battery immediately..
Otherwise, switch off your comp.
And shake all the water out of the mouse.. Then let it dry. It should get better after that. If it doesn't, you'll hav to buy a new one..

Anytime you spill water on your computer, unplug it as fast as possible to prevent short circut. Depending how much water was spilled, it may be a matter of drying it off or you may need to take it apart to dry off the eletronics inside, if so give it time to air dry.

Buy a new one.
By the way, how were you able to use the computer without a mouse?

The mouse is ruined, get another one. Electonic gadgets don't get better after being soaked in water.
