You did not say what you have done to it or what type of pain it is or even where it is located in your back. But... if it were me, I'd get a second opinion. If you go to a Chiropractor they will take ex-rays. The ex-rays will tell you what, where, and how it can and should be treated.
I have always had back pain, but it really became unbearable to sleep when I got pregnant with my second child. I tossed and turned all night, never really sleeping at all.
I finally went to a Chiropractor because all the other Dr.'s said it was in my head and to take aleve. All the pain meds do is mask the pain and does not take care of the underlying cause. Then there are times when the meds do nothing at all.
It has to be found and treated...if possible. Definitely get a second opinion. In the mean time use ice, it should help a little, but if it is a disc problem it may not. Only a Chiropractor can help with that. You need to find a good one though, some are not all that good. Listen to friends and family for advice on a good one to see. Or call a Christian radio station, they may have a name for you to try in your area.
My husband went through Workman's comp. He is 20 % disabled from a back injury at work, not enough to recieve any help. They did nothing for him either, mainly because if they classify you as disabled in any way, it could lead to a possible claim. No one wants to pay for that. Believe me we know.
But, you can help yourself, See another Dr.
I pray your pain decreases, hope this helps, good luck.

Justin, I suffer from chronic back pain due to an spinal injury complicated by a degenerative bone disease. I dont know the circumstances of your back pain, injury or other complications. I am under monthly care of a pain mgmt clinic. You didn't say if you had xrays or other test. If you would like to email me with your details I would be more than happy to offer any help and or advice that I can. retarmy007@yahoo.com

Go to someone else because she is stupid. Thing is, you cant really prove or disprove back pain. Go to a chiropractor and they'll pretty much get you plenty of time off work. Whether or not your back ends up better or worse after seeing them is yet to be seen. I went to one for sciatic nerve pain when I was pregnant. Cut to a few hours later and I was literally dragging my leg and limping across the hospital parking lot crying, lol. I really screwed me up and I never went back.

Go see a chiropractor. It takes a few treatments and your back should feel much better. I wonder if some of these doctors EVER had back pain the way they tell you that you can go back to work and you can hardly stand up straight! Hope you feel better soon!

get a second opinion..did your work send you to this doctor?...you need to find out why it hurts before you can do anything about it...it may just be a "pull" , hopefully nothing more serious...I've found long, hot baths help me (for the less serious stuff) and products of the midol painkiller family work very well...just my experience...I'd get that checked out...

it's probably due to bad sleeping posture, consult your doctor again, meanwhile gather information on good sleeping postures.
