I have a feeling we dont see everything that's there. If we did we'd have many more results. I've searched accurately in the past for things i knew were there and they didnt come up anywhere in the search. Also I find you dont ever receive the thousands or millions of results quoted. You can only go about 50 results pages max, even when you havent seen all the results. Is there any way around this so we can truly explore the depths of the web?.

No.

All search engines trawl the web using spiders or robots to gather their info. Any webmaster can include on their site a list of places (on their site) where they don't want the robot/spider to look. So a webmaster could ensure NONE of their site gets indexed by search engines.

Additiionally if web pages are created with some multimedia packages such as Flash, search engines aren't able to index the contents of these.

No, they don't show everything. A lot of websites these days use Flash in one way or another and some companies even opt to have their sites built completely in flash. As a web designer I can tell you that this is a very bad thing for companies who want their sites to show up in search results. Big name and well known companies like Sony or Microsoft wouldn't have to worry about this. Most web crawlers cannot read flash, therefore making it impossible for your site to show up in search engines. We definitely don't see everything on the web, but as far as what to do to explore the depths of the web, that's left up to you to figure out unless they come up with a search engine that's far advanced than the ones we currently have.

Aparently search engines use something similair to PageRank. The number of other websites and webpages that link to a given page is taken into consideration with PageRank, on the premise that good or desirable pages are linked to more than others

The fact is most search engines are bribed to show high priority sites first. If you put "camera" in google for example you will gets loads of companies, wikipedia, amazon and probably ebay. These companies actually pay so thier sites are shown first.

By the way if you make a webpage and don´t register it by search engines, they wont find it.

you could put " at the start and end of the words and see if that helps it's meant to refine the search better. Or you could try to think out side the box and see what comes up like putting unuseall words in. But frist look in Advanced Web Search
you cange change Number of Results in there.
