It is a pretty good question!!
You say the car, no matter in gear or not, gets shut down when you accelerate the engine?
the possible reasons are:-
1. The carburettor is not cleaned i.e. the charge (air fuel mixture) is getting clogged in your carburettor.
2. There is carbon deposits in the cylinder head of the engine(near the intake valve) causing the charge to not enter the combustion chamber.
3. The hose is damaged or clogged.

So dude,
for any of the above, get the car to your regular mechanic, he will fix it in minutes.
