Have a highligther with you always. Highlight the important sentences or words. Maybe, draw a cartoon related to your sentence. Do play with colors. =)
Enjoy studying!

If you take all the time you're spending trying to think up a short cut and put that towards studying you'll see an improvement in your grade.

I don't know where you're from and if by short cut you meant short cut or cheating, but cheating is not tolerated in many countries. I just got back from teaching in Korea where cheating is almost welcomed by parents and teachers and is considered 'no big deal' because 'everyone is doing it.' That is not the case in the US and other places.

If this is a class test: go to the teacher and tell him you need help. maybe he has old exams he might let you study. if nothing else he'll at least give you some tips and look upon you more favorably because he'll remember that you made the extra effort to seek his attention and help.

if this is an SAT/GRE type exam: go to the library and check out all the study books you can. do the practice tests under the same conditions as the real test (i.e. don't just do 1 section and then watch some TV--do the whole thing just like it was a real test.) get on-line where you can usually find more test hints and sample questions for free.

good luck. remember, you're spending your timesitting in the classroom. you're stuck there. you might as well learn something. if you study hard instead of looking for shortcuts you'll get more out of the class than just a passing grade

There are no short cuts to an education. The exam is to show how well you have learned the material. The best way to pass an exam is to learn. Remember what you have studied in class.
That way the exam will be a piece of cake. My advice is to
review the notes you took while in class. Review any study
guides the teacher gave you and then get a good night's sleep
and eat a good breakfast in the morning. Finally, have
confidence in yourself. Good luck!

1. normal method should be to go through the lessons on the same day as homework and do not keep arrears in learning to rush through at times of exam.
2. You are mentioning shortcut: Time bound mock question papers and taking up these and comparing them at least before one month of the exam in the first fortnight and rehearsing based on the exam in the second fortnight.
3. This will give the confidence to take the examination.

I always get test anxiety and although people wouldn't recommend it, cramming at the last minute has always worked for me. Highlight and make little notes (paraphrased) of important topics that you think may be on the exam and study from those.
