That, my MAN, is an excellent question. A question in which one should most certainly STOP and THINK carefully before making any rash decisions. First of all, does the crew consist of any females? You would not want to insult them by being politically incorrect in your wife's time of need. Someone might very well push you over, and then there would, indeed, be MAN over board.
Well, good luck with your decision. I'm sure you will choose wisely. Meanwhile, can your wife swim or not? Nevermind, doesn't really pertain to YOUR question does it?

Well if you think you are being funny in the idea she isn't a man you really aren't. Even though it is a woman you still shout man overboard and do it right away.

It's custom and tradition to say 'man overboard'. I don't think that you need to have a big philosophical internal debate about the political correctness of a phrase if your wife is drowning.

It doesn't matter what you shout as long as you shout something. Unless your wife is a seriously radical feminist I doubt if she'd make too much fuss about it. In the end if it did happen you would probably become incoherent or just shout 'help' or 'oh my god' anyway.
