Count Basie! His version of "Wind Machine" on the album "On the Road" absolutely wails! He pretty much set the bar for decades.
The swing era produced some other giants that get my legs jumpin like Benny Goodman, Lionel Hampton, Duke Ellington, and Glenn Miller.
Miles Davis (Coltrane, etc.) refined swing from big band into the combo in the be-bop times, and I love chilln to that!
With me though, Basie is my Alpha and Omega...
