Was he replaced or is he taking some time off from the show?

It looks like he chose to leave. He has been replaced with Brandon Beemer. Read about it here:

From what I've read, Jason Cook, who played Shawn, opted not to re-sign his contract. He has a movie coming out soon, so I guess he wants to concentrate on a film career.

He chose not to re-new his contract and the new one is here for now. He does have really gorgeous eyes..........and seems to be doing alright though he will never be like the other one
