you wont have a chance of getting any work unless ur corgi registered, i know that it only relates to gas, but no one will want you to do any work in their property unless u can prove ur competent being registered with corgi is insurance that u are competent

Try knocking on a few doors, informing the occupant that there has been a damaged main and the water may be contaminated or something like that, hopefully one or two will ask you to check for them. Then you can tell them that some pipes or something ought to be replaced otherwise the local water authority will fine them.
It works best with really old people

Are you Corgi Registered? if you are I can't see any reason why you are asking about work, I was told that you never find an out of work plumber.
You could get some leaflets printed (could do them your self) and take them round the houses. It was on tv only this morning that people need their boilers checked before turning their central heating on for the winter.
