European hits have a tendancy toward the sharper, more heavily production oriented "Techno" sounds. American's prefer a more visceral sound that's less "slick" and has more "Kick."

I'm fairly open to music but even I wouldn't be caught dead listening to that Milky song; it's too Pop-oriented for my tastes and I would imagine the rest of the US. With the Bomfunk MCs, there's something about white guys rapping that doesn't really click for Americans.

That's not to say there isn't a lot of good music that comes from Europe. You guys easily have the best dance music; Tiefschwarz, Roman Flügel, Sven Väth, Pendulum, The Prodigy, The Chemical Brothers, Jon Carter, Terry Lee Brown Jr., Bassface Sascha, Alter Ego, Stanny Frannsen, Magda, Leondro Gamez, Miss Djaxx, Der Dritte Raum, and Daft Punk are some of my favorite artists/DJs to listen to; and that list goes on and on. The problem is that they rarely get any airplay in the US. All the music radio stations here in the US are owned by two or three companies who decide which 20 songs to play repeatedly for three months which sucks for us.

The US media is run by a concept of cool that is very hard to fit into as a foreigner, most foreigners who become popular in the US do so by simple luck, take the band Ramstein for example. Like Robbie Williams, we can't understand for the life of us why anyone listens to him, but everyone in Europe adores him like he was the next Elvis (He even emulates him in his videos). Then you have wacked out music that we can't understand because its in Italian, French, or Spanish, like the Brice guy, what a wacko! On the other hand, crap groups like Britney Spears and In Sync make the charts here, so, what can I say? There are positives and negatives.

I think the americans liek to do the things their own way and also have a different taste of things. This is not only related to songs but sports and other fields also. May be they do it to retain their own identity.

I think Shayne Ward would be a huge hit in the US but no one here has ever heard of him. His pop, Justin Timberlake, sound would do very well.
