To define a colloid: Colloids are heterogenous dispersions of immiscible phases in which dispersed phase is discontinuous and dispersion medium is continuousand the particlesize of the dispersed phase lies between 5* 10 powered -9 to 2 * 10 powered -7. (Won't be surprised if you didn't get this in the first shot.)
To explain to you in a simple way.. take our atmosphere as an example. The air is a homogenous medium in which the dust particles are unevenly spread. Hence the dust particles are colloids. Another example is our deodourant. When you press the knob, for a shot lenght from the hole in the knob, you see a thin white spray of the liquid stored inside under high pressure. That white spray is in the colloidal state of the liquid inside.

This does not exactly refer to "colloidal state"..but is somewhat similar. Hope it helps...
An intimate mixture of two substances one of which, called the dispersed phase or colloid, is uniformly distributed in a finely divided state throughout the second substance, called the dispersion medium (or dispersing medium). The dispersion medium may be a gas, a liquid, or a solid, and the dispersed phase may also be any of these, with the exception that one does not speak of a colloidal system of one gas in another. A system of liquid or solid particles colloidally dispersed in a gas is called an aerosol. A system of solid substances or water-insoluble liquids colloidally dispersed in liquid water is called a hydrosol.

colloids (those that do not diffuse through the membrane).the term colloid is replaced by the words colloidal state or colloidal solution.
these terms are not applicable to a single susbstance but only to a binary, heterogenous system of two substances.the system contains two phases one is dispersion phase and dispersion medium.the colloidal state is considered as a physical state of the disperse phase in heterogenous binary system.

Colloidal is a moisture in wich you won't be able to distinguish diverse factors via means of finding (bare eye) in spite of the undeniable fact that this isn't any longer a sollution because of the fact in case you seem in a microscope as an occasion you will have the means to work out diverse fases. Examples: Milk Shaving cream

Colloids are a type of mixture. The solute's molecule of the substance is bigger than that in solutions but smaller than that in suspensions.

I have heard of colloidal oatmeal. I would check Aveeno.com to see what they do to their oatmeal to make it colloidal

it is an intermediate state between true solution and suspension partical size of colloids is always between .000000001to.0000002m they carry same charge means either they carry + or- charge ex.smoke, soap bubble, milk, coloured glass, bread.icecreametc
