Depends on what genre you're into, but a few i'd definitely recommend to anyone:
Fight Club
Sin City (the sheer technique is mind-blowing)
Green Street Hooligans (think Fight Club with english football!)
City Of God (if you're willing to sit through subtitles)
American History X
The Big Lebowski
Death To Smoochy (excellant black comedy with Robin Williams)
Desperado (or any film in the El Mariachi trilogy)
Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas (every person on this earth should watch this film, it is beyond amazing and the man it was based on was truly God's own prototype)
Full Metal Jacket
Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels
Snatch (this and the latter = brilliant English movies)
Natural Born Killers
Any Monty Python movie (always good for a laugh)
Nightmare Before Christmas (another movie everyone should watch)
Requiem For A Dream (VERY disturbing and hard hitting, but awesome)
Se7en (one of the best psychological thrillers to date)
Shawshank Redemption
Stealing Harvard
Trainspotting
12 Monkeys
Out Cold
Exorcist
Exorcism of Emily Rose
Old School
Final Fantasy - Advent Children
Dawn of The Dead
Land Of The Dead
The Crow (the first one with Brandon Lee)
The Last Emperor
Lord of The Rings trilogy
The Matrix
Saw and Saw2
Pirates of the Carribean
The Descent
Three Kings
Yeah, that's about all i can think of at this moment...

Ok you have to see all the classic films because they're so much better than the movies today! Right so- you must see charade starring Cary Grant and Audrey Hepburn. North by Northwest starring Cary Grant and Eva Marie Saint. And of course The Breakfast Club. Also St.Elmo's fire and Pretty in Pink Because Andrew McCarthy is hot in those films!!!!

My two all-time favorites:
The Hunt for Red October - starring Sean Connery and Alec Baldwin
Apollo 13 - starring Tom Hanks, Kevin Bacon, the head guy from CSI:NY (can't call his name right now), and another guy whose name I should know. Brain cloud. Been studying too long on schoolwork. But it's a GREAT movie.
Oh, and another: The Big Chill. All-star cast. SUPER!
