It´s because being gay is not a mental disorder. You cant choose what sex your attracted to, and being attracted to the same sex doesnt mean there´s somethin wrong with you, it simply means you´re gay. Its just a preference thing, just like you prefer some foods over others, you like certain colours, movies, books, songs more than others....its just like that, see? Even if you arent gay, you could be attracted to some members of the opposite sex but not to other members of the opposite sex...again its just about your preference, your type. Its not an illness to be gay, lesbian or bi and the only reason some people think it is, is because society revokes anythin that is outside their defined realm what is "normal". Societies norms however are continuously changing, for example, sex was considered a taboo to even speak of a couple of decades ago and now its everywhere...and its exactly the same thing with being gay or bi. In a couple of years people will be shocked by somethin else and this wont even be an issue anymore. Or so i hope, cuz i believe in "live n let live". And the reason more and more people are proud of being bi, lesbian or gay is because they´ve realized that its not an mental disorder and being true to themselves is nothin to be ashamed of.
Hey, i get it that you´re confused...but seriously just dont listen to people who say its an illness..and yeah i know you´ve probably already heard everything i´ve just said, but its truely what i believe...so i hope this helps. And if you still think that it´s a mental disorder, well then, all i ask of you is to be tolerant towards those who are different from you.

Because it's not a mental disorder, and not a shame. Educate yourself (using up-to-date sources, not ones from the 50s). Homosexuality occurs all over the animal kingdom, under natural conditions. More people should be proud of who they are.

When was homesexuality diagnosed as a mental disorder? Perhaps you should be pondering your lack of tolerance and let people live the lifelstyle of their choice.

That isn't a mental disorder. I think you have one for asking this question. Are you possibly homosexual yourself? Usually people who patronize homosexuals are gay themselves. Sounds like you need to come out of the closet.

Being homosexual or bisexual isn't a mental disorder.
You should be ashamed of yourself, as you are one of the people that make this world a small-minded, accusatory place.
Go jump. I'm a bisexual, and proud.

I tell women that I am gay even though I'm straight and you would be surprised at how many will give it up as they try and change my ways. I tell every one of them that they converted me and they go home laid and self satisfied for saving another poor soul.

Why should they be ashamed, gay people didn't choose to be gay, they were born that way and everyone should be proud of who they are
