The purpose of marriage is to uphold the concept of a family. The reason the world is in so much trouble today is because people have a very casual attitude towards marriage and divorce. Children from broken homes usually grow up with many problems. I can see this first hand in my work at a city high school. More often than not, the children causing most of the problems come from broken homes.

Yes it has purpose......the moral breakdown in this country is epidemic.....Make the commitment honor your vows!!!! Most men think they are to much man for one woman, and that they are doing woman-kind an injustice by being committed to one woman.... The good side is if you find the right person and respect ,honor, and love them you be happy and your life will be on it's way to a full circle. If you choose to be with a person and just live with them it is to easy to quit ....marriage is tough but is well worth it.....I have been married for 26 years I have never cheated and never wanted to, I don't put myself where I don't belong.....and if you do find the right person a good way to tell is you really can't have a good time unless they are there to share your joys and your sadness's!

A genuine marriage is the family institution . It is the cornerstone of civilization , the fruition of true love , the romantic ideal. It must be protected from any contamination. There can be no bad purpose.

Good purpose is to have a companion for life and beign a good companion to the spouse.
Bad purpose is just to propogate and not bother to be a good husband/wife or father/mother.

GOOD: you are in love with the person and they are an equal partner to you
BAD: you are afraid that if you don' t marry them, you won't have a chance to ever get married again (I did this unfortunately), you are afraid of being alone, you "NEED" someone in your life, you want to be in control of someone, you feel like you have to get married due to pregnancy, etc.
There are many more bad reasons to get married than good ones.
