Is the media giving to much attention to the killers of our children?

Why when some sick B****** does something like the school shootings, does the news service have to show pictures of the killer, give his life history three times an hour. Would we be better served if they talked about the victims and gave very basic generic info on the shooter. White male, in his twenties, obviously mental. I believe that there has been a lot of copy cat killers, looking to go out in a blaze of glory, or trying to make a statement. How about taking their forum away so that if they do something to this effect they will no longer get their 15 minutes of fame. Would this possibly take away a little of the attraction for these psychopathic individuals?

wow i was just discussing that with my other half. they gloritize these killers and expect not to have copy cat killers. Do they not know what they are doing by advertising news media. thats wht it is advertisement. I will not even accept tht they don't know what there doing. they know thats why they are doing it. so they can have somelthing to report tomarrow. I guess we are gonna have to protect our children. the news is like watching an r or x rated movie. you might as well let them watch porn.

In some ways I agree with you...and in others I have to say that I don't think that when those sick $oB's start shooting up our schools they are thinking about the news coverage.

I think we would all be better served if we held them accountable for their actions (that is if they don't kill themselves first) and make examples of them. there shouldn't be any second chances, 15 million appeals, or life sentences for killers of children regardless of age. And there sure as heck shouldn't be any possibility of parole. It makes me sick to remember what Susan Smith did to her children (wasn't it 12 or so years ago) and know that the maxium sentence she could serve was/is I believe 20 years because the state she committed her crime in didn't/doesn't have life or death penalties....her children didn't have a chance strapped into those car seats as she pushed them into the water...drowning would be too good for her.

And yet, in spite of it all we are suffering through a rash of school shootings again...and all the president can say is we gotta have a committee! What is that going to do? We need someone to stand up and say that the school shootings are going to stop and we are going to make it happen....we need leaders with backbones that aren't afraid to call a spade a spade and do something about it. Sorry about the rant....

It is to bad that the media seems to have no heart for the victims , they are looking to sell papers , etc. profit ? They will most likely say that it was not his fault he was molested as a teen or something and say it was societies fault. I found out that the highest rate of molestations are from direct family members by cps dept. I guess it starts at home, but you would not here this advertised would you. Sad world we live in..

YES! The media DOES give too much attention to the killers of our children. Unless law enforcement needs public help to catch the offender, only the crime should be reported. The killer's "15 minutes of fame" should come when he/she is executed!

The same thing should apply to child rapists!!!

I totally agree with you on this they should be talking about the victims. It makes me so sad that these perverts become famous for hurting innocent children. I think its good that the media say his name and show his face so that any other victims can come foward but at the same time they should not glorify the villian.
