Tenerife is fantastic. Unfortunately you will get morons who just sit on the beach and moan about how Las Americas is built-up. Get off their bums and explore. We found alittle village only discovered 60 years ago (Masca) Try the typical tenerife restaurants in other towns. Explore and enjoy.

I was fortunate to be able to go there in 1979 before las americas was thought of, actually there was one good hotel there.
I hired a car for two weeks and went all over the island staying in 6 different 4/5 star hotels during the period.
I loved the waves crashing into the pier in town and I loved the roads into the hills, I enjoyed my time there, but, like everywhere else in the world I have visited, I never go back, tourism always destroys beautiful places in the end.
The reason I live in the Philippines, and have done for 14 years, is that they have a terrible tourist arrival rate, due to the rubbish people read around the world about this lovely country.
I'm sort of happy for that, and I live on a beautiful picture postcard private island with 106 more of them around me. The next resort is 35 miles in either direction.
Have a look at this place for an idea of what the islands look like where I am.

Hope you can visit sometime, don't believe the newspapers, this is the safest place in the world for me, and I've been EVERYWHERE!

I went this year, i stayed on the outskirts called costa adeje a few km away from the main town- playas de americas. I found the main town wasnt great, and a bit tacky in some places, but alright if your looking for a girls/ boys holiday. The outskirts is alot better i think.

the place is lovely but was dissapointed as evry corner had either some one trying to get you to drink or eat even when they see you walking from a hotel after dinner time or some giving you bl**dy scratch cards you won etc etc when you both know what they want was ther for ten days in june i hate being hassled im on holiday and therefore want to enjoy my holiday not be hassled does any one else feel the same ? but yes i though the place was smashing places to go see etc thinking of getting t shirt made with big letters on front and back saying im in holiday ? leave me alone to enjoy it please

Its good fun if you want to get a sun tan and get drunk
The water park at Playa de las Amáricas is very good. Take a jeep safari up Mount Teide to see where 1 Million Years BC was filmed.
Sunbathe and then get drunk. Sorted

It was the most godawful place I have ever been. Its dirty and the people are horrible and urgh just vile.
