I think they would absolutely do so!! Look how long it took them to admit that they knew Columbia wouldn't make it back. They knew it at liftoff but told no one until Columbia didn't make it on reentry. If you're not familiar with the Apollo 13 story, rent the movie. Very good and interesting.

And here's a useless bit of trivia for you. At the end, when Tom Hanks is soluted by a gray-haired man in uniform, that is actually Jim Lovell, the person that Tom Hanks plays.

Hopefully, out of repect for the astronauts and their families. The negative publicity would be impossible to avoid.

I think they would show us as much as the FCC allows. Nothing should get too bad so we should be able to see it. Obviously if someone dies they aren't going to show us that though.
