i dont think smth is wroong with him ( in case he doesnt move when he is in his cage too)
he might be afraid
leave him on a table for a long time so he gets used to the "enviroment" and i suggest you better observe him from a place where he can not see you

There's nothing wrong. He doesn't know where he is and it's just his personality. If he's active in his cage, he's fine. I had 2 hamsters and had 2 balls for them to run around in. The one hamster would run all around the house in every room. The other hamster would not move at all in his ball. When you have your hamster on the table, try giving him a little bit of food that you always put in his cage. He'll recognize the smell and that may help him loosen up.

Hamsters have very bad depth perception, I've heard of hamsters running into walls and off of tables, just because they couldn't tell how far away they were. Your hamster is probabaly a bit disoriented. He is used to being in a rather small cage and is suddenly placed out in 'open space', so it might take him a while to get used to the idea that the world is not as small as he thought. If he's trembling at all, then he's likely terrified, otherwise, maybe he's just taking it all in.

HE IS JUST AFRAID MATE, DUE TO UNKNOWN AREA. IF YOU DO THT MORE OFTEN, HE WILL SLOWLY BE FAMILIAR WTH THE PLACE AND START MOVING AROUND.

My case was with my siamese fighting fish, whenever i bring the bowl to my room, the fish wouldnt swim around instead he will only stay still on the bottom of the bowl. Tht made me wonder, then i realised tht even the small creatures have brain and feelings, they r the same like us humans.
After 6 months,, now the fish swims arnd freely whenever i take the bowl to my room, but when i took it to the backyard, the same thing happened, down the bowl.

He's scared because he's in a new place and, FYI, hamsters can't see very well. If you want him to get out of his cage, get him one of those exercise balls or something.
