First I would like to say it's amazing that you know you're 2 weeks pregnant. Most pregnancy tests don't show up positive til you are at least 3-4 weeks along. At this early in the game, don't worry about it. I had a couple big nights before I found out I was pregnant too and my doctor told me that really early on in the pregnancy the baby does not have a brain yet. It is just a collection of cells and because there is no brain the baby won't be harmed by the alcohol, but DO STOP drinking NOW because any guess as to how far pregnant you are is merely an estimate and you don't want to really be 4-5 weeks along and still drinking when your baby DOES have a brain. Good Luck!

well~ If the alcohol hasn't harmed the baby it is still dangerous that he is going to have a mother who consumes extreme amounts of alcohol many days at a time. Now that you are pregnant it's time to grow up. Stop drinking like a teenager and act more mature.

As for the harm caused from the alcohol, I would go see the doctor about it. depending on how far along you are and when the alcohol was consumed there could be major birth defects. With alcohol defects what happens is that whatever organ was forming when the alcohol was consumed is the one that will be affected.

If your child's eyes were forming, the eyes could be damaged. if the arms and hand were forming, then he/she may have stunted growth in the hands/arms. If the brain was forming, he/she may have learning disorders when older. . This is if anything is going to happen at all. Lets hope it doesn't. I don't really think you need to worry about Fetal Alcohol Syndrome b/c that is usually a result of a mother who drinks a lot throughout the pregnancy

Now that you are pregnant, just make sure to stop drinking, smoking, etc and get to a doctor ASAP. Your doctor can take tests to put your mind at ease. Keep healthy, take your prenatal vitamins and pray for a healthy baby.

Good Luck.

I just want to add...to those of you that have given the advice that you child was born healthy and your friends baby was healthy after 3 mo of heavy drinking...that may be the case on the outside, your child may not have any PHYSICAL defects. But you can't know for sure about the mental/emotional defects. Your 18 mo old could possibly have learning disorders when he goes to school, may have emotional problems or could possibly become hyperactive. You wouldn't know at this point about those effects that your drinking had on your child. Not ALL defects are physical.

As you're but 2 weeks pregnant, your baby has a good chance not to have been hurt by your drinking excess, if you can keep your fingers from alcohol in the future. With your way of life (food, additional vitamines, NO SMOKING) you can do your baby a lot of good.
If you are still worried, see a doctor, as soon as the fetus is old enough for a prenatal diagnosis.
May God give you a happy life with your child!

I did it too, had tons of beer ... had no clue I was pregnant, turned out I was about 12-14 days along ... doc said all booze had to stop now and that no damage is done at such a developmental stage, its just about settling in (the pregnancy).. but anyway I got so paranoid I didnt touch a drop till I delivered, then too I had wine on Christmas after expressing ounces and ounces of BM.

It could have no effect and hen it might have some. It is usually when alcohol is consumed regulary throughout the pregnancy that the problems are present. Like low birth weight and failure to thrive after birth.
