The world cup finals take place every four years and - apart from a handful of idiots who are dealt with by local police and ostricised by everyone else - everybody gets on with each other and enjoys the event.
In recent years Iran and America have played games which have not involved anybody being shot or bombed, African nations have equal standing with first world countries and the Germans have got the hang of humerous songs.
Politicians have utterly failed to achieve this sense of worldwide community, resoting to air strikes, trade sanctions and general violence to try and settle their differences.
So why not send out football teams to play a match over political issues? Civillians will be entertained, rather than have their legs blown off by landmines and the chances of America being the winners are somewhat slim!
A case in point - the current world champions are Italy, who despite being a Catholic country, manage not to bomb Islamic countries on a regular basis!

Iraqi: ref, everytime i run down the field, the americans swipe their combat knifes at me. At that brings me to my second point. Your only allowed 12 members on the field. Last time I counted the U.S. team their were 1,024,367 on the field.

Nice ideology, however totally impractical. What about the team who loses the match, have you thought of the reprisals the defeated team might employ? They might turn nasty, like the beaten Argentinians after losing in the semi-finals of the last World Cup. Unfortunately you can't trust any nation to keep 'it's' word these days, such is the fragility of politics nowadays.

Try and decode this lyrics " I write the song" and "I like to teach the world to sing" so "Sing" and "Sing the song of Freedom" and fill the world with "The power of love" with "Love is in the air" and "I'll be there" for "We are the world" and "Living under the same sun" while out there were "Hurting each other" being overlook on planet earth.

Football does a great job of making or tribal urges social and enjoyable with no one getting hurt (well most of the time).
Unfortunatly for a match to happen both sides would have to consider themselves to be comparable - war is often about dehumanising the other folks to the point where you wouldnt play football with them.

Football or cricket it's not gonna make sence to the politician's,they all have there noses in the trof,
can you imagen 4 judge's on one man's case.who's gonna sentance him is it the 1st one the 3rd one or the 2nd one or the 4th one will dismiss the case.
it's like one player getting 3 yellow car's and the red card was lost in the match.

in most wars they play football or something around christmas and actually have loads of brilliant facillities plus i dont think it would work we english would thrash the iraqis but the american scum would probably lose about 700-9

yes good idea but today's politicians are so great that they will play politics with the game you know match fixing,cheating.this is politics it does not have substititutes but it can be removed from its root
