If people call you a dork then, to them, you are.

If you are serious- here is your answer: it depends.
(warning: this answer is not politically correct or a be yourself screw everyone else one... so if you are looking for either one don't bother to read further.)
You aren't a dork because you listen to music. You aren't a dork because you like 'rock n roll' or wear clothes that aren't the 'in' thing. These things can exist along with being a non-dork if you have the other parts of your life in order.
It was my experience in the past that dorks were that way because of a culmination of the things they lacked rather than who they were: most notably social skills and being well kept (hair cut, some muscle tone, clean clothes, personal hygiene ie. no nose hair, showered and shaved, clean finger nails/hands, etc.). Without these basic things, yes you are a dork. Sure it's not politically correct but the line between doing your own thing and not being a dork and just being a dork is pretty thin.
Another tip off is you say girls call you 'a retard' and you can't get a girlfriend. Everyone has these problems and you need to look at what you're bringing to the table in a realistic way. It's not about money. There are plenty of rich dorks. It's about effort. You see a girl you're attracted to- is it because all she talks about is music? or is it because she takes the time to dress well, do her hair, make up, etc.. and then gets involved in something... sports, clubs, hobbies, whatever. Doers are much more interesting than sitting in the corner brooders are (even if they are listening to music). I always found it annoying when some guy who did nothing and made no effort would hit on me and than think I was the B* for not going out with him. Yes it's all politically correct to say it's only what's on the inside that counts and that does count but if you make getting to the inside boring and unattractive why should someone making the effort have to go through that when there are other choices? Once again it's not just about physical beauty or money it's what you do with what you've got.
Here's an example: I had a math tutor in college that was a dork. He was nice and used to constantly ask me out. Finally he asked why he was constantly getting turned down by girls he liked. I was a little tipsy so took him over to a mirror and pointed out his three month grown out hair cut, nose hair, wrinkled t shirt, stained jeans and ragged finger nails. Than I asked what were we going to talk about? He didn't play sports, was in a fraternity, active in any clubs (just sitting in a meeting doesn't count) or volunteer work. He went to class ate lunch with his friends and than hung out with those same few people after class talking about how unfair it all was. Gosh- tell me more! You think I'm involved because I'm interesting. I'm interesting because I'm involved.
If you can look in the mirror and honestly say you are doing the above things, making the effort and are happy with what you do than no you aren't a dork and don't change anything- the right person and time will come for you. I suspect it may be a little of both though. So make up a list of all he things you know *you* like... your music, your converses, whatever. Don't lose or hide those things. Then take a good look in the mirror at the rest and go that extra step. Then get out and get involved- do a sport, join a club, go volunteer... whatever. It won't be easy and it won't be magic but after a few months you will see changes.
And the math tutor? Well the next week he showed up pressed and polished with a recent hair cut. He joined the outdoors club and intramurals- by than I had a boyfriend- but my sorority sisters asked me for his phone number and he pledged a fraternity the next semester. He was still the nice guy that I knew but no longer a 'dork'- and was much happier.

WHO GIVES A **** WHO THINKS YOU ARE WHAT? I'M NEARLY 40, RIDE A MOTORCYCLE, SPEND ALL DAY ON THE PC, and all I ever get passionate about is music, i listen to it when i ride even, (I installed headphones in my helmet) Today I am wearing a 20 year old metallica tshirt, i spend 2 hours a day on myspace adding music bands, and am planning a trip to see megadeth in syd in 2 weeks ....the only reason i dont think I'm a dork is because I dont give a flying F***. maybe this comes with age???? I'm having the time of my life!!! None of my friends say anything they still hang out with me, and i have a boyfriend who TOTALLY supports me how I am...so dear music head...BE YOURSELF, HAVE the time of your life, cos the only girlfriend worth having is one who is totally into you and who you are...anything else is a waste of time -you could have been doing the things you love! ROCK ON!!!!!!!!!!!!!
if you want to be my dorky friend on myspace
here ya go, I welcome you :)

Dude who cares about getting a girlfriend? Some people find love quicker than others, but everyone will feel it eventually, so don't rush things if they're not ready to be rushed. Listen to whatever music you like and wear whatever clothes you like. So long as you've got friends and you're happy and healthy, and whatever you're doing or listening to isn't hurting you or anyone else, who gives a crap what other people think? Just be you!

Be proud of being a dork.
All of Rocks greatest front men were dorks, nerds and losers.
If all else fails, climb to the top of a bell tower with a semi automatic weapon.

Well if you are then I must be one too. I'm a girl who loves video games, watches cartoons and anime, reads manga and comic books, goes to comic book conventions, and my Venom T-Shirt is my favorite shirt. Don't worry, you just haven't found a cool chick yet. I've been married for 11 years and my husband isn't into any of those things but he loves me for me anyway. I never was one to live by others standards, and you shouldn't either! You sound pretty cool to me. Best of Luck!!!

Hey, you're passionate about something and you focus on your passion. Apparently some people are so directionless they can't find anything more rewarding than deriding someone else's source of enjoyment.

You'll find a girlfriend. 'Dorky'/'Geeky' girls are the friggin' best! And there's more than cute one that likes the same things you do. And of all those girls, there's gonna be some that also like you. You'll do alright, promise.
