The rest of the world, such as myself, see soccer as a religion. Why don't we get with it and make our country proud of homegrown soccer players like we do with baseball, basketball, and football?

I think that USA believes in originality, which is a very good attribute and I admire that even if I am not from USA. That is the reason they have invented different new sports according to their liking. If u look at it the other way if USA is good in sport they should also prove it to the world that they are good in soccer also.
And I think they have a decent team in soccer also.

We have the right to like anything we like. I also love soccer, but doesn't bother me if other people don't like it. About homegrown players: Takes time. I think the next generation will be good. Think about this: England has been playing forever, and still don't know how to play it well.

personally i love soccer but were are american so we have football, basketball, baseball and pro wrestling, lol. its actually better that we arent a soccer nation we would ruin the sport by over commercializing it anyway not that it isnt already super commercialized, but you know how we americans are,it would be wrong to stop a match just for a commercial break for the new taco bell 17 layerd stuft grilled portobello gordita, lol

because we are proud. darn us americans! lol

I totally wish soccer was as big here in the states as it is in the rest of the world. Then, maybe we wouldn't have to pay to watch the games on TV lol.
