Virus - gets into your computer and messes up everything, system things.. which you cant see. it does this with out you seeing it. And if not stop in a short amount of time (depending on the virus) it could crash your computer

Popups, Adware & Spyware - popups come from the sites you vist on a daily bases. Adware can be like a virus, it gets into your
computer and messes it up, spyware its pure evil - it takes little parts of YOUR own information from the computer and keeps it, like emails, i might send a email to a friend that you didnt send, but the spyware did and now your friend has a virus.

If you have those problems, you need to make sure your Windows XP is up to date, (start - all programs - windows updates) - then on microsoft.com/downloads, download Windows Defender, which will help against spyware and viruses and even popups.

pop-up ads are usually a result of spyware or adware, which are programs which companies install on your computer while your visiting a website a good way to remove them is to download spybot search and destroy. and the Yahoo tool bar Spyware removal tool. those two combined will get 95% of spyware off your computer,I have found that programs like adaware, are not really effective when it comes to vertain programs. for the pesky ones which you can't remove with those two you'll need to spring for Webroot Spy Sweeper Version 4.5 which is $22 on newegg.com. check out toms hardware, for review on which ones are the best.

A virus is a software program writen by someone to corrupt all your system files.

A Spyware / Adware is a program writen to send companies your private info, buying patterns, send you advertisements, and which bog your computer down, (as if windows needed to get any slower.)

I must also say Xandros is a much better operating system which thus far does not have a threat of spyware, and or Viruses

Adware is a software (usually freeware or shareware) that displays advertisements on your computer. Advertisements are downloaded to your computer from various sources.

Spyware is a software that is installed remotely on your computer without your knowledge and it records what ever you do with your computer and then sends that information over the internet to the hacker(s) servers. It records everything including your on-line purchases, banking transactions etc.

Viruses are programs/scripts that damage computer if it is executed/run on your computer.

Popups and adwares are annoying whereas spyware and viruses are malicious in nature.

Usally, all of the above collectively are called "Malware" Malicious software

Virus is a bad code which replicates by itself and damages your pc. Purely destructive. Trojans are non-replicative form of virus which attracts other virus and malwares to your computer. popups are just ads or watever which may popup while opening a site. They can or cannot be adwares. Mostly they are just nuisances.Adwares are programs which gets installed to ur computer without your permission and it displays ads (of mainly false security products and porn ads) and proves out to be a nuisance. It displays ads even if you are offline, and disable popups, Spywares are similiar to adwares, but can spy on u sending your info (may be even credit card no) to their server. They can also track your usage or search results for their benefits, i.e display ads. There is a different form of spyware called keylogger which actually records all your keystrokes and sends back to their servers.. Spywares can only come from a particular bad site or one has to put manually on computer. There are worse strains of spyware which can actually mess ur pc up. Use 2-3 good antispywares such as say, spybot -search and destroy ( http://www.safer-networking.org ) and Lavasoft's adaware SE ( http://www.lavasoft.de ). While, one can only use one antivirus on a pc(compatability issues), one can have any number of antispywares in ur pc (one to clear wat other misses). Also check site safety from http://www.siteadvisor.com b4 visiting unknown sites.

Spyware are programs that attacks on your personal info and privacy by means of tracking you down on what website you search. Some spyware even logs every keystroke you do.

A virus destroys files even some computer parts depending on the development and purpose of a virus.... Some viruses replicates even more annoying than a single one.
